Laurie Coben is a Managing Director and Senior Banker in Rockefeller Global Investment Banking where she leads coverage for the energy and power sector.
Laurie brings nearly four decades of investment banking experience to Rockefeller, with over 25 years working on M&A transactions with power and utilities clients. Her corporate M&A transactions include the sale of lnfraREIT to Sempra/Oncor, the sale of Oncor to Sempra in connection with the EFH bankruptcy process, the merger of Duke and Progress Energy, AES’s acquisition of DPL, Fortis’s acquisition of CH Energy, PPL’s acquisition of E.ON’s U.S. Utility business in Kentucky, and Cinergy’s merger with Duke Energy and the subsequent spinoff of Spectra Energy. She also advised the PG&E Board of Directors on financial issues relating to the liabilities arising from wildfires in 2017 and 2018 and has worked on a number of both asset sales and equity transactions.
Before joining Rockefeller Capital Management, Laurie served as a Senior Managing Director with the Power, Utilities, and Renewables Investment Banking Group at Guggenheim Securities where she worked with numerous electric and gas utility clients. She joined Guggenheim in 2020 from Evercore, and earlier, she served in various leadership roles at Merrill Lynch and Bank of America Merrill Lynch, concluding as the Global Co-Head of Energy & Power Investment Banking. Laurie began her career in investment banking as a generalist in the M&A group at Salomon Brothers.
Laurie earned her bachelor’s degree in history and economics from Colgate University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
