James O’Sullivan is President and Chief Executive Officer of IGM Financial Inc. one of Canada’s leading diversified wealth and asset management companies. IGM Financial’s core companies include IG Wealth Management and Mackenzie Investments, and the company also holds strategic investments in a range of international companies, including Rockefeller Capital Management.
Mr. O’Sullivan joined IGM Financial in September 2020 following a 29-year career at Scotiabank, where he most recently had global oversight of the bank’s asset management and wealth management businesses in addition to the bank’s Canadian personal and commercial banking businesses. During his career at Scotiabank, he also held leadership roles in the investment banking, mergers and acquisitions, personal and commercial banking, and insurance areas of the company.
He holds joint Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration degrees from Osgoode Hall Law School and Schulich School of Business at York University as well as a Specialized Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from York University.
Mr. O’Sullivan is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Rockefeller Capital Management; a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council, Schulich School of Business; a member of the Regimental Senate, 48th Highlanders of Canada; and a member of the Board of Directors for the Soulpepper Theatre Company.
